Shuttles
The marathon and half marathon courses are point to point. Free transportation from downtown Port Angeles to each start area will be available race morning. Runners are encouraged to park in Port Angeles (there are several free downtown parking lots as well as fee parking lots ranging from $6 to $11- bring appropriate cash) and reserve a bus seat to the start. Some parking is available at each start, however we strongly recommend that half marathoners use the shuttle as parking at the half start is VERY LIMITED. Shuttle service will be available after the race to take runners from the finish in Port Angeles back to the start areas.
Bus reservations are required for planning purposes - please mark your needs on the registration form. Email larry@nodm.com to make any changes before June 1st.

Gear bags
What is the gear bag for? Because the marathon and half marathon are point to point, we are providing a gear check at each start. Bags and id labels will be available at registration. Labels should match your bib number and should be placed in the upper right corner of your bag. Volunteers will ask if you would like a bag. If you are not sure, take one. If you know for sure that you won't need one, please help us preserve resources and decline.
On race day, take what you need to the start - extra clothes, food, magazine, disposable camera... And just before the race starts, put everything but what you need for the run in your bag, drop it off at the school bus, and it will be transported back to the finish area for you.
Timing
The event will be timed by AccuStat Sports Timing. For more information visit their website.

Spectator viewing
The North Olympic Discovery Marathon and Half Marathon are unique for spectator viewing. The course is a point-to-point rather than the more common out and back or big loop. ¾ of the run takes place on trail, away from road access. But it is definitely worth checking out the great spots to give support and take pictures with beautiful backdrops.
Marathon spectators start at Carrie Blake Park, Sequim
- Start your runner off and stick around because they make about a 4 mile loop and will run right past the start again.
- Next great place to watch is anywhere along Washington Street in downtown Sequim. After your runner passes, spend some time and check-out the rediscovered beauty of downtown Sequim.
- Sequim Ave. and Hendrickson.
- From downtown Sequim, take Hwy 101 to Carlsborg Rd, turn right. Turn right on Runnion Rd to get to the west side of Railroad Bridge Park. Park the car and walk toward the bridge to find a place to take a picture of your runner. For safety reasons, please do not drive to the east entrance of the park. Travel North (away from mountains) on Carlsborg Rd. to Old Olympic Hwy and turn left. Go to #6.
- Half Marathon spectators start here -
- Watch the half marathon start at the Agnew Soccer fields. Arrive early! Parking will be available on Barr Rd and Gunn Rd.
- Go West on Old Olympic Hwy and turn right onto Wild Currant Lane - go about ½ mile and park at the end of the circle - just before the Siebert Cark Bridge. Walk down to the bridge and cheer. This is a hard section for your runner.
- Continue now South on Old Olympic Hwy for about one mile and head west on Highway 101. Travel about 2 miles and turn right at the Deer Park Scenic Overlook. This is mile 20. Your runner has made their final climb - it's all down hill and along the water for the next 6 miles! If you are adventurous you can walk about a ½ mile to Bagley Creek to cheer for your runner on this final climb.
- Finish Area! Find a spot next to the Red Lion - on the beach or on the grass and wait for you runner. There will be bands playing all day. Restaurants, ice cream and coffee are just a block or two walk from the finish area as well as unique downtown shopping. For a spectacular view of the finish line consider renting a kayak and paddle along the shore as your runner comes in.
